La Cage aux Folles (French for "The Birdcage") is a comedy that follows Georges and Albin, a long-term gay couple who own a flamboyant drag nightclub in Saint-Tropez. Their lives are upended when Georges' son, Jean-Michel, brings home his fiancée, Andrea, and her ultra-conservative politician parents for a dinner to arrange a marriage. To impress the traditional in-laws, Georges and Albin try to hide their lifestyle, leading to farcical hi-jinks as they pretend to be a heterosexual couple. The story explores themes of family, love, and self-acceptance, ultimately emphasizing old-fashioned values with a queer twist.
